The co-op counts 141 acres of cut runs and 111 acres of natural glades. That is an unusually generous split for a hill this size — the glades are not an afterthought between the trails, they are close to half the terrain.

The co-op does not publish a difficulty breakdown of its 28 cut runs, so this concept does not show one.

Lifts

Three lifts, no queue worth mentioning

    Double Chair

    The long one — the lift that puts all 488 metres of vertical underneath you.

    T-Bar

    A surface lift for the mid-mountain, and a workhorse on a windy day.

    The first lift almost everybody at Shames has ridden. Where a first day starts.

1,500 metres of chair, 600 of T-bar

The Double Chair runs 1,500 metres and the T-Bar 600. Between them and the carpet lift, everything on the hill is reachable — and a hill this size means the lift line is rarely the reason you missed a run.

Before you drive up

There is no phone or internet at the ski area

None. Sort out passes, rentals and anything else that needs a signal before you leave Terrace, and tell whoever is expecting you that they will not hear from you until you are back down the road.
